This is my 11th post on buildings in my ‘Building Passions’ newsletter. I thought it would be a good opportunity to reflect a little on the first ten posts.
My original goal was to blog about buildings that hadn’t featured in my book or in my current research. That turned out to be wishful thinking! But I have covered an interesting and varied range of, admittedly, mainly historical buildings. What else would you expect of an historian?
Below is a list of buildings from my first ten posts:
A derelict family property in Latvia
The Taj Mahal in India
A bank in Northern Eastern Italy
The Reliance Building, a skyscraper in Chicago, USA
A gothic cathedral in Strasbourg, France
An as yet undiscovered work of monolithic architecture
A ‘daylight factory’, now an apartment block in Dayton, Ohio, USA
A burned-down art school in Glasgow, Scotland
A renovated hotel in Vorarlberg, Austria
Highclere Castle (aka Downton Abbey) in England
So how about voting for your favourite posts/buildings out of these ten? I need to split the poll as I can’t include more than 5 choices, so in effect you’ve got two possible selections.
You have a week to vote. My next post will look at your answers to see which two came out top and whether they coincided with my own selection. I will then either add an extra building of my own OR please suggest one in the comments for this post or by email to enquiries@buildingpassions.co.uk .
